64 oz apple cider
3 C (24 oz) cranberry juice
*½ bottle full red wine
½ to 2/3 C sugar (depending on how sweet you like it)
4 cinnamon sticks
3 t. whole cloves (either tied in a small cheesecloth bag, or locked in a tea diffuser)
1 large lemon, sliced
Simmer this for an hour, uncovered. Anything unserved is good chilled over ice.
*If you add the wine with the rest of the ingredients, almost all of the alcohol cooks away. If you add it toward the end, you can retain some of the “buzz.”
